Emotions
Atul
On the brink of life or death, a man must choose the path for which his emotions take him.
- Invitation
Atul came to us with a pop track called Emotions and an artistic ambition that needed visual scaffolding — he needed a debut music video that would carry the song with cinematic weight, not just a performance cut.
- Brief
A short narrative film built around the song's emotional arc, finished to the standard of a professional music video on an independent-artist budget.
- Approach
I wrote and developed the piece through five script drafts before locking the final concept: Atul as a dying patient suspended between his real hospital room and an alternate-reality version of it, separated from his love interest Taylor (played by Lyndsi LaRose). We shot it in a single day at Silver Dream Factory in Anaheim, with a full crew assembled around DP Jonathan Pope, gaffer Stephanie Hauser, and 1st AD Rebecca V. Goldstein. The shotlist covered six scenes with deliberate visual grammar: Cowboy lead-ins on Atul, Lens Baby POVs to signal the reality shifts, and macro shots on Atul's eyes as transition devices. Color finishing came from Jerimiah Morey.
